Fantastic. Paolo making a fool out of Barthez

Better still was the following week Liverpool AWAY sat in the Arkle pub singing "Let's all do the Barthez" with all the Liverpool fans.

I went to the 6 nil Gary Breen game, so many seem to think it was 6-1 for some reason.

We sang all game but the drive home was fucking grim.

Poplar - Did you see just after half time when they sent in around 20 odd 'heavies' into the away end? Proper went off.

Looks like you started it all ;-)

Re: Your memories of Manchester United Away
last game of the season circa 90's...carnage scenes outside OT as they won the title

Pulling onto tram station full of waiting Mancs, then my mate pulling the emergency cord as the driver tried to pass through...mayhem ensued from there on...few casualties that day, never seen women and kids throwing beer bottles...

I think...we lost 2-0

Joe Cole's debut. Came on as a sub and promptly wiped Jaap Stam out (accidentally I think)

Lost 4-1. Hartson consolation.

Why the fuck would I want to remember visits to OT. Every time I've been there we've been smashed. Perhaps it's just as well I can't make it Sunday.

Liked Hersham - Saw Tony Gale in the bookies on the green a few times.....................

Few pints in the Brickies then a massive dinner in the Dining Room. Shame that's gone now.

Seeing George Best score a hatrick against us in my first ever way game 72 I think it was. We lost 4-2 after being 2-2 at half time.

This season. The four urinals outside the away end and people actually using them!!

Re: Your memories of Manchester United Away
Ha! They're my locals. Bricklayers by far the better pub, but at £4.60 a pint they're taking the piss.

I was in a boozer in St Margaret's for that Di Canio game. My scouse supporting mate was getting the hump with me because I was getting so stressed as they were peppering our goal, I even tried to walk out ten minutes before the end as I just couldn't watch any more, but he dragged me back. Can still see Dailly desperately throwing himself around the six yard box now.

Getting a tram always seems weird, no matter how many times you do it. My overriding memory of playing there is always the amount of litter on the streets as you walk away from Old Trafford. Like walking through a tip.

Re: Your memories of Manchester United Away
Think so - I only went there a few times - was more of a Bricklayers Arms kinda guy (though the Watermans for any football)

Is that the one next to the Royal George pub, Sarge? Half a mile down the road from me that is.

Re: Your memories of Manchester United Away
Drinknig heavily with my old next door neighbour (Chelsea fan) at the Hersham Working Mans Club the Sunday afternoon of the Paulo / Bartez 1-0.

Place was full of Chelsea (they were the second game v Gillingham that afternoon IIRC) but I had license to be as loud and obnoxious as possible to piss off the "Club cunt" who was mad Man U.

Good fun

Was at the 6-0 a few years later.

No fun at all.

Re: Your memories of Manchester United Away
Lost 2-0, FA Cup 3rd round I think, Steve Coppell got one of their goals, penned in at the end by the OB, kicked off in the ground down the side at 2 of the exits at the same time.

Re: Your memories of Manchester United Away
Wasn't CANTONA'S last-ever game before retiring against us at the end of 96/97?

0-3 loss, I think. Our players were already away on their holiday (in their minds). Not sure we even mustered a shot at goal.

DEANO scored a brilliant overhead kick goal Vs them as well. Can't remember the season. 07/08? Lost 1-4, I think.

That 0-6 game - the theatre of dreams turned out to be a nightmare on Elm Street.
